FLOWERPOT DERBY – GIG REVIEW BY LEE RAYNOR

So last night, we saw the Climax Blues Band at the Flowerpot, Derby.

We have followed the band for many years since the sad passing of the frontman Colin Cooper which was a big thing for the band to get through. Then more recently, Leslie Hunt had to stand down from playing due to health issues which was another blow.

None of this, though, stopped the band from coming back stronger and better than ever with the best set I’ve heard at The Pot this year!

From the first to the last song, it was pure quality with the finest musicianship you will see anywhere.

Graham Dee and Chris Aldridge together do an amazing job of filling in that void Colin left, and new boy Dan Machin is definitely one to watch with some blistering guitar work.

I can honestly say this band sounds better than ever and if you get a chance to see them do so.

We will be for sure.

Credit goes to soundman Johnny Moreton for great sound too.
